I WISH I KNEW WHAT TO SAY

This series of stop-frame animations were created by drawing and erasing, revealing traces of the previous gestures, the drawings are as much the residue of the animations as their starting point. Phrases written into the drawings: "I wish I knew what to say" and "There are no words" are a response to feeling at a loss for language or even the possibility for representation. These became a way to make and remake, taking one step and erasing it, gradually going forward. As Samuel Beckett wrote in The Unnamable: "You must go on. / I can't go on. / I'll go on."
